Week 11

Week 11

Just five more weeks left in the semester. It seems like there so much to do in so little time. This week I'm trying to finish up my LE 5 Leadership and Collaboration Project. Its 99% done but waiting on formative feedback from my principal. Unfortunately, today was a busy day for her and I only spoke with her for about five minutes. My CE gave me some positive feedback today on my project she said she liked the five reasons parents should get involved with their child's school. She had mentioned possibly using it on their Facebook page.

In clinical this week we were finishing up our unit on Fables. We did a brief review and then had the formal assessment. Afterwards, we finished our Daily Five activities from this morning. This was a good opportunity for me to worked with my assigned students for EDU 312. We worked together on phonics and concentrated on fluency. I must admit she has come a long way. She read all five books with very few mistakes. The last book was "Chicken Little" and she read it without one mistake. Id say this was my most proud moment. When I asked her questions she had answered everyone correctly.

In math this week my class continued working on multiplication and division. We worked on fact families. I did some research on activities for fact families and found a good website with worksheets.

The biggest challenge this semester has been behavior management in my classroom. I've mentioned this at every meeting. The one student who has had the most difficulty following the rules is once again this week in ISS. Last week he had three days OSS. They have moved him to a higher tier and if there is no improvement he may be placed in an alternate school.  I've tried to reach out to this student and have made little progress. It's unfortunate that he cannot control his behavior.

This weeks NCPTS are:
Standard 2: Teachers establish a respectful environment for a diverse population of students.
Teachers encourage an environment that is inviting, respectful, supportive, inclusive and flexible.

Teachers adapt their teaching for the benefit of students with special needs.
